1) Wear Protective Clothing In Cold Temperatures
Wearing protective clothing helps shield your skin from the harsh, cold and sometimes windy weather that is so drying to our skin. So, be sure to wear not just a jacket, but gloves, hat and possibly a scarf.
2) Use Humidifiers When At Home
During these cold months, it’s good to keep a humidifier running at home to assist in keeping the air from getting dry during the driest time of the year.
3. Stay Hydrated
It’s good to drink plenty of fluids because your skin is the biggest organ of the body. So, if your skin is an organ, and the biggest one, then if your body is hydrated, then so is your skin!
4) Moisturize After You Shower Or Bathe
When you’re taking a shower, especially a hot one, there’s more moisture in the air. Plus, in the colder months, you’ve got your heaters running as well. Therefore, the heat causes water evaporates off your skin quicker leaving your skin dry.
So, your skin goes from extreme moisture to drying extremely quickly, which takes a toll on your skin. That’s why it’s crucial to moisturize after you shower, so that it locks in that moisture, as well as creating a barrier on your skin to keep it from drying out.
5) Use more moisturizing products in the winter than than you normally would in warmer months.
You want to use more moisturizing products in the winter because of the months of winter being so drying. I’m going to get a little scientific on you, but I just want to explain why exactly you need more moisturizing products in the winter compared to to the summer.
During the summer, the ait is not as dry. Have no you ever noticed that it rains more during the spring and summer months. Well, that has a little something to do with why our skin tends not to be as dry. You figure the heat causes more evaporation.
So, if water is evaporating from oceans, lakes, rivers, etc. Then, what goes up must come down, and that’s when we have our rain storms. With all of that said, there is more moisture in the air. Hence, out skin is not as dry. Therefore, we don’t need heavy duty moisturizer like the winter time.
